Group Case Break Update

As it stands right now we are 2 owners shy of being at 50% assigned. I have to admit this has taken longer than I thought or anticipated, however, these are the lessons learned along the way.

The entire National League East has been claimed and we are 2 teams shy of having the American League East sorted out. Thanks so much to everyone already involved spreading the word and having your friends join in on this break.

I, along with Canada Card World, am determined to make this break happen. In fact I am already planning the next break for LFB2B. A bit less ambitious than a case break but one people will enjoy nonetheless.

Calling All Team Set Collectors

Over the last 10 days I have been unfaithful to promoting and drumming up support for the first ever Group Break on LFB2B. I am currently working to fill teams for a case break of 2010 Allen & Ginter Baseball.


There is a link on the right hand side of my page to the sign-up post as well as a quick reference guide of the teams already claimed.

There are plenty of teams still available and by opening a case we are going to be providing everyone with the best chance at some really great hits at a really good price.

Group Break - 2010 Allen & Ginter - Open Season

I started talking about hosting group breaks a week or so ago and along with the new "official" supplier of all things cardboard to LFB2B, Canada Card World, it looks as though this will become a reality. All that needs to happen now is thirty individuals who love to collect baseball cards can claim their spots in the break.

Here is how this one is going to work.

Each spot in the break will be $45 Canadian funds. If you want to grab any more spots after that it will be $40. For the first while I would like to limit your selection of teams to 1 team. After a week or so I will open it up to second and third choices for all. This case break will also be used to secure your spot and team choice, giving you first right of refusal, for subsequent monthly breaks being hosted by LFB2B.

This will be first to claim, holds your spot. The sooner we get all the funds in the sooner we can order the case and ensure it is here for "Opening Day". If you have any other concerns, suggestions or questions leave them in the Comments to this post.

Payments can be made to longflyball@inbox.com using PayPal. It seems the best thing to do is to send the money as a "gift". Please include the name you are securing a team with in the comments of your payment, it will make tracking and mailing so much easier.

This will be a team based break.

All cards will be distributed to the team listed on the card. Any non-sports cards will be randomly distributed equally to all participants. Non-sport SP's will be distributed equally as well.

Non-sport Box Toppers will be randomized first amongst those who did not receive any Box Toppers and then if possible amongst all participants.

Any non-sport Box Topper relics or autos will be randomized amongst ALL participants.

Non-sport relics and autos will be randomly distributed firstly amongst those who did not receive and autos or relics and then any remaining non-sport relics and autos will be randomized amongst ALL participants.

Cut Signatures, Mesozoic Relics and DNA Relics will be randomized amongst ALL participants.

Insert cards (Lords of Olympus, Monsters of the Mesozoic, World's Greatest Wordsmiths, National Animals, Sailors of the Seven Seas) will be randomly distributed amongst ALL participants

LFB2B Premiere Group Break - 2010 Allen & Ginter

A few posts back I had made a passing mention that my Local Card Store will be closing its doors for good soon. This leaves me with one supplier in town who I refuse to deal with simply because he is quite the douche-bag. The next closest stores are 45 minutes to the south of me and one relatively "close" only because it is in the same city where I work, but still 40 minutes away.

One of the things I have been doing for the past while is trying to find a new place to purchase boxes of cards without paying ridiculous prices forced upon store owners by their suppliers. I think I have succeeded in securing a place. After sharing several conversations back and forth with a great guy named Joey, I have also decided to try and work with this new outlet and make them the "official" supplier of cards to LFB2B.

I am extremely happy to welcome 'Canadian Card World' to LFB2B and hopefully introduce a few of you to them. I have been spending a great deal of time at their website reading articles and posts from other collectors. I check out their blog two or three times a week and I have also been following their Twitter feed. You will also notice that I added a banner to their website on the right side of my blog page.

I want to try and take my blog to the next level and offer baseball card collectors, hopefully attracting Canadian collectors, a place where they can meet each other and continue to build a solid network like the ones I have seen amongst our American friends. As part of this next step I want to begin offering Group Breaks. If I am like everyone else out there, I thoroughly enjoy Group Breaks but I also never seem to get in on enough of them.

I figure what could one more hurt, right?

Quite a while ago a few of the Bloggers that currently host Group Breaks were kind enough to share their experiences with me and offer their advice and warnings. Their words of encouragement meant the most and helped me make the decision to pursue this offering.

With the heavy anticipation of the 2010 Allen & Ginter release on the horizon I figured, "What a great way to kick off offering Group Breaks?!" I also though I needed to kick this off with a BIG event, so, the first Group Break at LFB2B will be a case break of 2010 Allen & Ginter.

The Group Break slots will be team-based. I have figured out the costs and the slots will be 45$ each with additional slots costing 40$ in Canadian funds. I am fine-tuning the distribution of the non-sport cards in the set and will post the complete breakdown of everything this weekend, along with a post allowing you to claim teams.

I am looking forward with excitement about being able to offer another avenue for people to get a hold of cards from their favorite players and favorite teams. If you have any suggestions that you would like to offer I am open to them. I look forward to everyone being a part of this and I look forward to this being the beginning of something truly great.

The best cards for me are the 'Ice Scripts' which are thick, clear plexi-glass cards with hard signed autographs. I bought a couple packs a couple days ago and pulled one of them.

P.S. - As of this posting Topps still has yet to have their promotion running. I think I see a pack of angry villagers with pitch-forks and torches coming Topps......oh you must have known it would end like this..............
